In April in Pheonix Arizona, in a supermarket, people alerted the staff about hearing soft meows from a fridge in the store.After some investigation, they discovered two cats being trapped inside the unit, nearly frozen and crying.
When the Arizona Humane Society technician Jujului “Juju” Kuita come in the store, he was not quite sure that he will be able to save the kittens. They were still young and separated from their mother.
“We knew it was a matter of life or death that night,” Kuita said in an interview for TODAY.They used a video camera that was on a long cable to locate the kittens, that were trapped at the back of the unit. They were in very tight position, said Kuita.
They come up with a very unusual solution, scooping the kittens out with ladles Walmart staffers gave them.
Then they pulled the cats using a pole with a noose at the end. Kuita was thrilled when they finally managed to take out the kittens from inside the fridge.
“I really, truly could not believe that we rescued them,” she says. “I know the universe had a hand in that.”From the store, the kittens were transported to the Arizona Human Society.
The kittens were named Grace and Houdini and very soon both of them got adopted by families in Phoenix.
